Στα μέσα του Μαρτίου 2020 η εκδήλωση της πανδημίας του Κορωνοϊού Covid-19 και ο φόβος μιας εξάπλωσης με καταστροφικά αποτελέσματα είχε ως συνέπεια (όπως και για πολλές πόλεις του κόσμου) την επιβολή περιοριστικών μέτρων στην κυκλοφορία όλων μας έξω από το χώρο της οικίας μας. Η δυνατότητα εξόδου περιορίστηκε τόσο χρονικά, όσο και χωρικά. Η επαφή μας με αυτονόητα αγαθά όπως ο φρέσκος αέρας και η επαφή μας με το τοπίο –αστικό ή φυσικό- αναγκαστικά άλλαξε.

Το τοπίο όπως το ξέραμε, στενά συνυφασμένο με το «έξω» και αλληλένδετο με τη «ματιά» μας, επαναπροσδιορίστηκε. Η άλλοτε ανέμελη απόλαυση του εξωτερικού χώρου μετατράπηκε σε κλεφτές ματιές από το παράθυρο και σε σύντομες βόλτες στον άμεσο περιβάλλοντα χώρο της κατοικίας μας. Έτσι γεννήθηκε η ιδέα των “window escapes ”, μια απόπειρα νέας εμβίωσης του τοπίου ως απόδρασης, σχεδόν και ως ανάμνησης μιας πιο άφοβης εμπειρίας.

Ο Πανελλήνιος Σύλλογος Αρχιτεκτόνων Τοπίου επιχείρησε να καταγράψει αυτήν την τόσο έντονη κοινωνική αλλαγή με το παρόν εγχείρημα. Αυτό εντάχθηκε στο πλαίσιο του εορτασμού του μήνα Απριλίου – Διεθνούς Μήνα Αρχιτεκτονικής Τοπίου (WLAM – World Landscape Architecture Month), στον εορτασμό του ερχομού της Άνοιξης.

Το παρόν τεύχος συντάχθηκε από το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο του Συλλόγου το μήνα Σεπτέμβριο 2020 και απευθύνεται σε όλους τους φίλους της Αρχιτεκτονικής του Τοπίου. Η παρούσα έκδοση παρουσιάζεται με αφορμή την 4η Διεθνή Ημέρα Τοπίου, όπως θεσπίστηκε από το Συμβούλιο της Ευρώπης να εορτάζεται στις 20 Οκτωβρίου.

By mid-March 2020, the Corona virus Covid-19 pandemic and the fear of spreading with catastrophic results forced all of us living in Athens (as it did for most cities around the Globe) to follow restriction measures related to circulation around our residence. Our freedom to circulate has been restricted and put in certain space-frame and time-frame. Our contact with elements such as fresh air and the landscape (urban or natural) was forced to change.

The landscape as we knew it was closely related to “outdoor” experiences and scope was re-defined. The up-to-now carefree indulgence of the outdoor space was now turned into sneak peaks over our windows and short walks in our close surrounding space.

This is how we came up with the “window espapes” idea, an attempt to live landscape in a new way, as an escape, or even as a reminiscence of our fearless previous landscape experience.

The current book has been edited by the Board of Directors – Panhellenic Association of landscape Architects in September, 2020 for all our landscape friends. Τhe current edition is published on the occasion of the 4th International Landscape Day of the Council of Europe and is celebrated on October 20th its year.

The “Message from Lausanne”, on the theme of the 23rd Council of Europe Meeting of the Workshops for the implementation of the Council of Europe Landscape Convention on “Landscape integration in sectoral policies” (Lausanne, Switzerland, October 19-20, 2020), invites the actors of the territory to “integrate landscape into its regional and town planning policies and in its cultural, environmental, agricultural, social and economic policies, as well as in any other policies with possible direct or indirect impact on landscape” (Article 5 d. of the European Landscape Convention – Council of Europe).
