The Landscape Architecture Profession
Landscape Architects plan and design urban and rural landscapes. They employ aesthetic, functional, and scientific principles with appropriate use of techniques, natural and man-made materials and landscape management.

With their creative and inspiring ideas, landscape architects create sustainable, aesthetically pleasing and functional spaces, always taking into account the specific historic and cultural values. Landscape Architects, working alone or as part of a team, participate in design and planning projects, as well as in environmental assessment and landscape restoration works. Their skills in site evaluation, planning, design creativity, planting and construction, enable them to be involved in large scale projects.

More specifically, a landscape architect plans and designs:

public parks, plazas and pedestrian streets;
playgrounds, sports grounds, golf courses and thematic parks;
housing estates, business parks and shopping centers;
school, university and hospital grounds;
private gardens and roof gardens;
highway landscapes and parking areas.
